Plumas County Historical Cookbook

A diverse collection of 186 recipes shared by families throughout Plumas County, CA., many of whose descendants date back to 1854 when Plumas County was formed. This is no ordinary cookbook! It reflects the people and times of a bygone era, when fruits, vegetables, and meat were home-grown, empty whisky barrels stored sauerkraut, every kitchen contained a wooden butter mold, and hands were thrust into wood-stove ovens to test the heat before baking. The recipes, however, haven't changed.
